David Springhetti

Chief Legal Officer

David Springhetti, an attorney and senior executive with more than 25 years of experience guiding legal, compliance, transactional and operational matters for multi-facility healthcare organizations, is the Chief Legal Officer of Southwestern Health Resources (SWHR).

In his position, Springhetti oversees legal support for all SWHR clinically integrated network operations, strategic initiatives and projects.

He works directly with the senior executive team on strategic initiatives and business needs, providing legal counsel and establishing and ensuring appropriate ethical standards and legal considerations. Springhetti provides legal advice to the organization on all matters affecting healthcare operations to ensure compliance with federal, state and local regulations. This includes the Stark law, Anti-Kickback Statute, False Claims Act, Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), credentialing, tax, antitrust, billing compliance, insurance, litigation and employment law.

Springhetti came to SWHR from Lehigh Valley Health Network (LVHN) in Allentown, Pa., where he served as Senior Vice President, Chief Legal Officer and Board Secretary of the eight-hospital, nonprofit integrated health system. His accomplishments at LVHN include strengthening the organization’s governance protocols and communications by creating best practice templates and seamless processes for the preparation, approval and secure storage of confidential governance materials.

Prior to that, he served in Houston as Regional General Counsel for Catholic Health Initiatives (now CommonSpirit Health). Previously, also in Houston, he was Chief Counsel of Business Affairs at Memorial Hermann Health System.

David earned his Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree, with a double major in management and finance, at the University of Wisconsin, and his Juris Doctor degree at the Southern Methodist University, Dedman School of Law.
